This church promots that it is KJV only however many formor pastors have used other tanslations of the Bible and NIV has been found as the church pew Bibles. The church also does not have a strong doctrine stance on many important topics , but rather leans to saying one thing and doing other things. This is most notable when the deacons are allowed to be women and members who place their salvation in water baptism and not in faith alone, which they also say they are. For these reasons the church has had a hard time finding or keeping a pastor due to not being able to edure sound doctrine. Anyone visting the church should know very little true teaching will be found and only surface level teaching done by babes in Christ, or perhaps even lost people will be given out. The church was built in 1805 and is a Federal period frame building. It is a rectangular, two-story, heavy wood-frame building set on a stone foundation.
Bassickville Historic District is a historic district encompassing a well-preserved late 19th-century residential development on the west side of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Located on Bassick, Howard, and Fairview Avenues, the area was developed as a residential subdivision of worker housing by Edmund Bassick. The development is characterized by nearly identical 1-1/2 story frame cottages exhibiting the Stick style of architecture. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Description and history

Bassickville is located on Bridgeports west side, occupying all or part of Bassick and Howard Avenues between Fairview Avenue and State Street, as well as a few adjoining properties on those two main through streets. Both sides of Bassick Avenue are lined almost entirely by Bassicks cottages, while the adjacent side of Howard Avenue features several of them. A number of later buildings, mostly residential in character, round out the district. Of all of Bassicks development, all but one building survive. Of 39 buildings in the district, 31 are single-family cottages built by Bassick, and two are duplexes. They are characterized by their cross-gable roofs, decorative Stick elements and finials at the gable ends, bay windows in front and porches to one side, and board-and-batten siding. In some instances, later siding changes have obscured or lost these features, but the uniformity of the developments character is still evident.

The development was the brainchild of Edmund C. Bassick, an entrepreneur who moved to Bridgeport from Chicago in 1880, having made a fortune in the gold mines of the western United States and Australia. It was one first residential developments in the city to feature housing built expressly as rental units. When Bassick began purchasing land in the area, it was little more than scattered housing and farmland. Between 1883 and 1885 he had most of these houses built, hiring I.W. Parker of Waldo, Maine to do the construction. Land that Bassick owner on Hancock Avenue was used as a commercial nursery, and was not developed until after his death in 1898. Most of the early tenants of the development were employed in the building trades; rent was $15 per month.

History

In the early nineteenth century Catholics in the area of Utica were served by missionaries and priests riding circuit out of New York. Rev. Paul McQuade was the first missionary. Pastor of St. Marys Church, Albany, from 1813 to 1815, made frequent visits to Utica. There is no record of where the first Mass was celebrated in Utica, but there is no doubt that it was in the home of John C. Devereux, one of the pioneer Catholics then (1813) a member of the board of trustees of St. Marys. Rev. Michael OGorman, pastor of St. Marys in Albany, celebrated the first public Mass in Utica, in the Court House, 10 January 1819. St. John's parish was formed in 1821.

Around that time, German immigrants began to arrive to work on the Erie and Oswego canals. They wished for their own church and priest. According to the official records, Rev. John Lewis Wariath was placed in charge of these immigrants as early as 1837.

In 1858 the Conventual Franciscans assumed responsibility for the parish. The friars asked the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia to come teach in the parish schools of St. Josephs and Assumption in Syracuse. Eight sisters arrived in 1860 and within the year, at the direction of James Frederick Wood, Bishop of Philadelphia, formed a separate congregation the "Sisters of St Francis of Syracuse".
The Francis M. Stafford House is a historic house located at 102 Broadway Street in Paintsville, Kentucky, United States.

The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places not only for its architecture, but for its family's importance in the founding and development of Paintsville. In 1843, John Stafford, the original owner of the house, helped establish the city of Paintsville. Then in the 1930s, the Stafford family sold most of their 1,000 acre farm to the city, doubling it in size.

History

The rear part of the home was built circa 1843, while the front part was built circa 1888, making it the oldest house in Johnson County. Although the home was originally built for John Stafford, it was named for his son who accumulated his father's property after he died in 1869. Francis Stafford also built the main part of the house.

At one time, the Stafford farm included several other buildings, among which were a smokehouse, a store house, a coal house, several barns, a corn crib and a grist mill, which was located below the home on Paint Creek.

On July 12, 2003, the Paintsville City Council declined the grant.

Rancho San Lucas was a 8,875 acre Mexican land grant in the Salinas Valley, in present-day Monterey County, California given in 1842 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Rafael Estrada. The grant extended along the west bank of the Salinas River south of present-day San Lucas. It remains an operating ranch.

History

José Rafael Estrada, son of José Raymundo Estrada and Josefa Maria Vallejo de Alvarado, received the grant of the San Lucas for two square leagues in 1842. Rafael Estrada was a half brother of Governor Juan Alvarado.

Estrada sold Rancho San Lucas to James McKinley. Captain James McKinley, a Scottish sailor, arrived at Monterey in the 1820s and became a successful trader. In 1843, he was involved in a trading business partnership with Captain John Paty and Henry D. Fitch. He served as an agent for both Thomas O. Larkin and his half brother, Captain John B.R. Cooper. McKinley married Carmen Amesti, daughter of José Amesti, who was the grantee of Rancho Los Corralitos. McKinley was also the patentee of Rancho Moro y Cayucos.

With the cession of California to the United States following the Mexican-American War, the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo provided that the land grants would be honored. As required by the Land Act of 1851, a claim for Rancho San Lucas was filed with the Public Land Commission in 1853, and the grant was patented to James McKinley in 1882.

McKinley sold Rancho San Lucas in 1862 to Alberto Trescony (1814-1892), during a drought that devastated California cattle ranches. Trescony, born in Italy, arrived in Monterey in 1842. A tinsmith, he became wealthy enough manufacturing pans for California Gold Rush miners to begin investing in real estate.

With the purchase of part of Rancho San Bernardo and all of Rancho San Benito, Trescony consolidated his San Lucas holdings into a ranch of about 20,000 acre. He also acquired Rancho Tularcitos. Drought in 1871–1872 killed large numbers of Trescony's sheep. In 1876, he moved to Santa Cruz, and turned over the operation of the rancho to his son, Julius A. Trescony.

At some point in the 1880s, Alberto Trescony moved back to Monterey County. He died in 1892 during a stay at a Salinas hotel. The estate was distributed to his three children: a one-third interest to his son; a one-third interest to his daughter, the wife of Robert F. Johnson of El Paso, Texas; and a one-third interest to the two minor children (Anita Christal and her brother Leo Christal) of his deceased daughter, Rose, wife of J.F. Christal.
